Title: Dut’s Ginger Cookies
3/4 c + 2 Tbsp vegetable shortening
1 c sugar (+ “extra” for dipping)
1 large egg
1/4 c + 2 Tbsp unsulphured molasses
2 c flour
1-1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1-1/2 tsp ground cloves
1-1/2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp salt
2 Tbsp Baking Powder
Cream the sugar and shortening
Add the beaten egg and molasses. Add the sifted together dry ingredients.
On waxed paper, form the dough into a 2” log, chill and cut into 1/4” slices.
Dip one side into the sugar and bake in a 3750 oven for 8 minutes
Remove while warm. Makes 36
